Hi all,
This is my first post in this forum although I have been following for sometime now.

This is my current system:

C2Q q6600 o.c. 3.0 ghz
Zotac GTX 550 Ti
Ram- 4 gb Corsair ddr3- 1333Mhz
PSU- Cooler Master VS-550Watt
HDD- WD Caviar Black 1.5 TB 7200 rpm

I have a 17" monitor with max res 1280x1024 but now I am buying a new led 18.5", max res 1366x768.

What I want to know is, Does my system have enough power so that I can game at 1366x768 with high detailing in new games? Will it be able to handle upcoming games like CRYSIS3 and BIOSHOCK INFINITE.

That C2Q is still a decent chip today. Dont expect CPU limited games to run very well on it in the future. You might be looking at a system upgrade soon.

BTW going between you...

Don't bother getting a new monitor that's only 1366x768.. That's not even an upgrade! 1280x1024 at 17" is about 96 PPI (pixels per inch) while 1366x768 at 18.5" is about 84 PPI.. You can get a good 23" 1080p monitor for like $150 at newegg.. 1920x1080 at 23" is still about 95 PPI.

Asus 23" 1080p Monitor (159.99@newegg)
That monitor is $20 off until January 14th, plus you can get a $15 rebate, so you would end up only paying $125!

I can't really answer your question about whether or not your PC will run new games, I don't have any experience with that exact build, and it's not easy to find benchmarks of old CPUs with new games.. If I had to guess, I would say it probably won't run new games with all the settings turned up, but probably would be ok for medium settings, and still look good! The best way to find out is to see for yourself when those games come out!

since you are playing on low resolutions, you should be able to put most new games on high without AA. (not ultra). Your cpu is old too so cpu intensive games may not run well.

For Bioshock infinite, you should be able to put the settings on medium to high. For crysis 3, I think it can only handle medium settings. These are only estimates though.

BTW going between you current monitor to the new one is a decrease. Less pixels, etc. So you will actually get better performance somewhat.
