TV not recognizing HDMI connection from PC

Hello sirs,

I have a new TV and it doesn't seem to be recognizing that I have an HDMI in from my video card.

The television is Samsung UN46ES6100 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz Slim LED HDTV. if any other specific specs are needed.

My video card is MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI E for specs if needed.

The card has a few DVI outputs and a mini HDMI. I have a mini HDMI to HDMI cable, and that worked just fine for my last TV. For some reason with this new one, it isn't recognizing that it has any signal incoming. I plugged in my gaming console via HDMI and it is recognizing that fine, so I don't think it's anything with the ports.

When I have the computer hooked up to the TV via the HDMI card, the computer kind of recognizes the TV. It is aware that there's a second display. is what it shows up as when I go under display. The primary is my computer monitor, and it only detects the TV as whatever it says there. I tried making it active, and the TV still doesn't recognize the input.

If I restart my computer with the HDMI cord connected to the TV, my monitor goes black, and I can see my mouse if I wave it around. That leads me to believe that the computer is trying to make the TV the primary display, but I don't know why.

I don't have the specs for my last TV. All I know about it is that it's max resolution is 720p and it's 32".

I would appreciate any help in resolving this. Kind of bumming me out.

More about recognizing hdmi connection
  1. I'm having almost this exact same problem, new tv, geforce gtx 460 videocard in my pc with 2 DVI outputs and a mini-hdmi output. For some reason when I reboot or quickly disconnect and reconnect the cables I can see a flash of the desktop on my tv, but then it reverts to showing a blue screen of non-recognition. Has anyone figured this out?
