Hi, long time reader, first time poster.
I've been fairly good with PCs, but this has me stumped.
First off, PC's a bit old;
16gb Corsair Vengance (2x8gb)
MSI 9800 GTX/9800GTX+
520w Antec PSU
Samsung 1tb 5400rpm HDD
Cosair H60 with Exaclibur fans
Lian Li PC-P50WB tower.
So my dilemma is this: My boss gave me an old 9800GX2 he found in his shed, still worked fine, just had the casing removed, because he was cleaning it at the time.
Tested it at work, seemed to work and run fine. I bought it home along with a bigger PSU, as my 520w wouldn't hand it with the CPU being OC'd.
I get home, change the PSU, and chuck the 9800GX2 in, and my PC wont post.
I tried it in the alternative PCI-E slot, and noticed I could hear the fan going fast and hard, then slow down and come to a complete stop.
I tried putting it back in the first slot, and it wouldn't spin at all.
Tried to Reset the CMOS and everything, still nothing.
Threw my old GPU in, and it posted and booted fine right away.
I don't know what it could be, initial thoughts were PSU or MB, but the minimum PSU req is 580w, and the same MB works fine with everything else, just not this 'new' GPU.
