Yes, it will still be f2.8. But at 28mm on the D70 vs 40mm on 35mm, the
DOF will be equivalent to about one stop smaller.

Soft as anything at f2.8, too. Certainly was on the 20D, anyway.

I guess that's something that you might need to ask Tokina about.
I believe that you still get iTTL flash metering with a non "D" lens,
but if there is "D" information, then that is used in calculating flash
output - "3D Colour Matrix Metering".
I've only used the inbuilt flash with "G" or "D" lenses, and compared
directly with another very popular dslr that I used, the D70 does an
outstandingly brilliant job in avoiding blowing out/overexposing the
foreground object that you focus on. If the same applies when using an
SB600/800, and this is attributable to using distance information in
flash metering, then I suggest that you verify this, and if correct then
avoid non-D lenses for flash photography, Nikon or third party if
possible. It might be a very valuable feature to you.

Tokina describe the lens as Nikon D mount - so I'd be very surprised if
it wasn't a "D" type.
Their 12-24 looks interesting too.

Oh yeah. frederick! U got apsolutley RIGHT. I haven't notice it.
"Mount availability:Canon EOS, Minolta AF, Nikon-D, Pentax AF"
THX very, very much!!
I'm looking for mid-range zoom wich will be able to co-operate with
Nikon d-70s
Nikon SB-800 (this "D" is pretty improstant for SB-800)
Nikon F90x
in this order of priority
And that tokina seem to be the best solution 4 me.
But maby there is better lens, wich be will grant these claims, in
this price range (about 500$).??
Any suggestions??

No - not really.
It would be nice to have SWM/HSM/USM. I think only the Nikkor offers
this in the 28-70 f2.8 IF-ED - at about 3 times the price.
