Display Port to DVI Maximum Resolution

Hi guys,
I need to get a resolution of 2560*1440.
I know I can't do this from the DVI from the back of my mobo, but I know I /can/ use the display port. The problem is my monitor only has DVI. As long as I get a dual link dvi adaptor, can I get 2560*1440?
thanks

  1. You should be able to do 2560x1440 through DVI you just need a dual link cable.
  2. From a graphics card, yes. But not from the back of my mobo

Odd. You should be able to just buy a dual link DVI to DP converter and you're good to go!
