Ok i got an option of these two computer, suggestions would help but my budget is £280- (Below)
im trying to run a HD 6870 but my current PC is bottlenecking since it's a weak computer.

Current Specs
AMD Triple Core 8400 2.10Ghz
HD 5450(Want to use HD 6870)
PSU:Wiru 700W
Ram: 4GB DDR2 667Mhz

The Two i have found best are:

http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/barebones/bb-63008g....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/G4-VB-AMD-965-FAST-DESKTOP-PC...

if anyone has got any suggestions or advice to help me find the best computer to go with my HD 6870 thats around my budget would help and be very much appreciated :) .

Also I play most games at 1280x1024 since my monitor is a 17" LG Flatron L1710B it's fairly old but works perfectly even with 1080P videos (When i ahd the HD 6870 in) i noticed the bottlenecking because playing games in high detail such as world of warcraft would give me low frame rate even on medium settings.

How much money do you have do make a upgrade?

Would recommend spend a little more and buy one with Core i5. In the long term it will be better

Buy a core i3 ivy bridge and a new mobo. then you should be good

i5 would be even better if you can get a good deal on 3570k(i saw one on sale for $125.99 3 days ago)

you got any suggestions of what type of i3? does it have to be specific or can it be any i3?

Would look to ebay, motherboards for 1155 can be really cheap, around £25 i got mine, and the cpus a bit less than retail, got a i5 2400 new for £100. Then 8gb DDR3 ram for around £30.

just scouting around ebay atm thanks for the quick replies im still searching around for the right rig

Why not just upgrade your CPU? If you have an AM2+ motherboard you could just drop in a Phenom II 940 quad core processor for about $60US.

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/AMD-Phenom-II-X4-940-Black-Editi...

I'm running that CPU with a 4870 X2 video card and can game anywhare from medium to very high details/resolutions depending on the game on my 1900X1200 screen.

would the two i've linked above cause any bottlenecking issues cause im struggling to find a rig that would suit my budget any other suggestions? many thanks :)

i was recommended a 955 BE processor 3.2ghz quad and yes my motherboard is AMD2+ but this rig is going to my little brother, would your recommend the AMD 965 Then?
November 29, 2012 1:48:44 PM

I'd recommend the 965 heartily. It's a great processor. It only loses slightly to the i3 2100 (By like, 1-3%), and costs £40 less. In multi-threaded applications, the 965 beats the i3 by a fair margin.

Or even if you want to run multiple applications at once. That is when the 965 will tank against any of the i3 processors, due to the 965 having four cores rather than 2.

The 965 and 955 are for AM3 socket so they will not work on your AM2+ motherboard.

Ok i found an AMD FX-6100 would this be better for my HD 6870 and will i get any bottleneck from it?
i'll list the spec below

Specifications:
AMD FX-6100
4GB DDR3 1333mhz
500W Branded PSU
Onboard Graphics (Will Be Replaced With HD 6870)

Would you say this is good enough for my HD 6870?

Looks good to me though I would go for a FX-6300 instead. I liked the Novatech system in your original link above. The only thing I had a problem with is that it did not tell you the make and model of the motherboard.

Also if you ever intend to crossfire another 6870 down the road you'll probably need a better psu and motherboard as the one shown in the Novetech site lists the second PCIE interface as X4 in crossfire mode.
