Nvidia Geforce GTX 260

Hi, xzCrysis here from the UK. I'm looking to upgrade my HP P6-2160ea with a graphics card and power supply. I'm currently deciding on a GTX 260 in a shop called Cex. The PSU I'm planning on getting is the Corsair CX500W. I'd like to ask a few questions and I hope all of them will be answered briefly. The games I will be playing will be Minecraft, Left 4 Dead 2 and maybe more.

Here are some links:

My current PC: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03311504

Corsair CX500W: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/500W-Corsair-Builder-Series-CX-CP-9020047-UK-80-PLUS-Bronze-SLI-CrossFire-EPS-/130802720259?pt=UK_Computing_PowerSupplies_EH&hash=item1e74731e03&_uhb=1

Here's my questions:

Will both the graphics card and PSU fit inside the case?
Can the 500W handle the GTX 260?
Will anything in my computer bottleneck something? (E.g. My CPU bottlenecking my graphics)
Does the PSU have all the cables I need?
Does anyone here have any experience with this Cex store?

  1. yes it probably will , if you can post a picture of the insides of your case would be great so we can assure it

the corsair cx500w will surely power up the gtx 260
no bottleneck will occur as far as I know... someone correct me if Im wrong ;)
yes it does have all the cables you need in the power supply

    cex store? not me.. :)
  2. Thanks, but very sorry to post a picture of the inside of my case.

Just need some more people to comment on my first question and last.
  3. Make sure your case has clearance for that beast because it's a 10.5 inch (26.67 centimetre) long card. My guess is that card may be too long for that case.

Overall the GTX 260 is a pretty decent card just make sure you try to get the 55nm version and if you can't try to go for the 65nm one with 216 shaders.

    Proud GeForce GTX 260 owner!
  4. Don't buy such an ancient GPU! At least go for GTX 650 or Radeon 7750.
  5. Honestly I'd say just get a GT 620 or something... It will save you the hassle of installing the powersupply.
  6. agreed with lostgamer_03
just buy a HD7750 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102969 no risk guaranteed ;) and no need to buy a new psu

or get the corsair cx500w and buy a gtx 650 ti SSC http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130841

it's up to you though :D
  7. Hmm, it does seem that the GTX 260 is a long card.

So does anyone recommend a decent card that can fit inside my Mini Tower?
  8. Just found an EVGA GTS 450 for £59.99

Most people say it's a really good card.

Can someone check the dimensions of my PC and the card to see if it will fit please?

Much appreciated if you do, thanks.
