Laptop monitor = external desktop monitor

So I want to be able to basically make my laptop just another external monitor for my desktop.

I have an EVGA GTX 560ti Fermi gfx card on the desktop.

There is no way to connect your laptop to your desktop video output. You can try software options which allow your notebook to connect remotely via network to your desktop but it would most likely only clone the display.
