I have been doing research on finding the right GPU for me. I have narrowed my decision down to these 2 GPU's. (Mainly for gaming)

1. EVGA GTX 670 FTW
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130787

(I also found this version of the FTW with a dual fan design)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-130-843

2. ASUS GTX 670 Directcu ii (Would have gotten the TOP, but it seems it is not sold anymore)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121637

I am looking for the GPU to be cool, yet fast. Sound isn't a big issue because I don't think I will hear it over the in-game sounds.

CPU - i5 3570k
PSU - Corsair HX 850
Case - HAF XM

PS: If any of you could find the TOP on sale anywhere please let me know.

Thanks.

It's really hard to get a straight answer. If you look at the reviews these are all outdated btw. From best to worst from techpowerup

Asus 670 TOP - 10.0 rating (only card ever to get a 10.0)
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_670_Direct_Cu_II/33.html

Gigabyte Windforce SC 670 - 9.8 rating
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Gigabyte/GeForce_GTX_670_Windforce/33.html

MSI Twin Frozr IV 670 - 9.7 rating
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_670_Power_Edition/33.html

Palit Jetsteram 670 - 97 rating
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Palit/GeForce_GTX_670_Jet_Stream/33.html

Zotac AMP 670 - 9.6 rating
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Zotac/GeForce_GTX_670_Amp_Edition/33.html

They didn't do the EVGA so.....

http://www.guru3d.com/article/evga-geforce-gtx-670-sc-review/23
EVGA SC Boost Clock is 1046 outta the box....stable at 1200 Mhz
EVGA SC gets 3DMark Score of 8691 outta the box and 9443 OC'd
Idle temp is 29C / load temp is 78C
Noise is 37 dBA Idle / 43 dBA under load

http://www.guru3d.com/article/asus-geforce-gtx-670-directcu-ii-top-review/23
Asus TOP Boost Clock is 1137 outta the box .... stable at 1280 Mhz
Asus gets 3DMark Score of 9340 outta the box and 9839 OC'd
Idle temp is 30C / load temp is 72C
Noise is 37 dBA Idle / 38 dBA under load

That makes the Asus 7% faster outta the box than the EVGA SC, 6C cooler and almost 1/4 as loud under load (every 3 dBA is a doubling of sound level). The FTW is slightly faster than the SC, leaving the Asus model w/ just a 5% performance advantage

ASUS GTX 670 TOP = Silent.
MSI GTX 670 PE = Better Overclocking.

Pick which you prefer it's to confusing to figure out lol.

I have looked into AMD, but at this point I am settled on Nvidia GPU's. Thanks for the recommendation though.

Thanks for the lengthy response! I have looked into the MSI PE, at first it looked like a great buy, but the more I looked into it the less appealing it looked. I may look into it more, because it does look like a fantastic card, just seems like people are getting unlucky and getting less than expected clock speed.

I was planning on getting the Asus Directcu ii Top, but I could find no retailers that sold it. If you could find it anywhere, I would buy it in a heartbeat. How is the non-top version compared to the TOP?

Never heard of Palit, are they well respected?

The non top is the same except it's not factory overclocked as high and cannot overclock as well as the Top because asus used specially higher binned chip in the top. Palit i am just as much in the dark about as you are lol sorry.I cannot see the top in stock anywhere either though i know it's still being sold.

Out of curiosity why did you settle on nvidia?

Probably because the 670 and 7970 perform basically the same at stock up to 1080p resolution, trading blows depending on the game. The 7970 will OC better and do better at high resolution (and has way more compute power), the 670 gives you CUDA , PhysX, TXAA, FXAA, ADap. Vsync etc and lower power draw. Both are solid buys around the $400 he most likely favored 670 features.

Pretty much exactly what he said. I don't plan on going multi-monitor, so the GTX 670 is fine with me.

Damn, I want that Asus TOP card! I wish someplace would have it in stock! :(

I do plan on doing SLI in the future, so I don't plan on buying the Gigabyte as I heard it is pretty bad in SLI. Looks like its between the Asus, EVGA, and the MSI. I am leaning more towards the EVGA because of the better customer service of EVGA, but my opinion can change.

Does the MSI triple over voltage actually make a difference in the MSI card?

upto I saw the receipt four $8909, I be certain that my mom in-law could realy bringing home money part-time at there computar.. there best friend has been doing this 4 only about six months and a short time ago cleared the depts on there house and purchased a new McLaren F1. we looked here,.http://al.ly/QJr
WTF!Are you talking about ?

I would just ignore that guy LOL. :D

Yea, I think I will e-mail them and see what they say! The only problem is, I want to get my Graphics card by Christmas. If they don't have it I might have to get the EVGA card.

What e-mail would I use to e-mail them. I found one but you have to provide a product number, which I obviously don't have.

Awesome! :D

Yeah but that's not true. The 7970 is ~5% stronger than the 680 and then overclocks even more. My 7970 OC benches higher than an overclocked 590! The 7970 is 15% stronger than the 670 and comes with 3 FREE games that are actually very good.

Don't pay any more than $350 before rebate for a 670. It's just a waste of money when even a 7950 overclocked often beats stock 680's.

I understand, I'm not bashing the 7970. It's a fantastic card, but comparing the two the GTX 670 is better (In my opinion). I don't think the 3 free games justify the value of this card either.
