Which graphics card should i purchase under Rs.3000

For pentium D 2.80Ghz processor i want a graphic card under 3k but which will work well with 250w PSU and PCI-e x16 slot.
currently i have 8400GS 512 mb but i am thinking to buy forsa nvidia 610 1 gb ddr3.

I know that My pc is too outdated but I cant spend anything more on it please help guys....
and yes please also suggest any other graphic card under 3k if better than above 1gb is enough for me....
also consider stock 250w power supply i cant upgrage that either!! :cry:  :cry:

You will get no difference in performance if you buy those cards. In fact, the 8400 might be better performing than the GT 610. I have experience with GT 520 (The GT 610 is just a rebadged version of the GT 520) and it is impossible to play anything other than the lowest settings possible.

ok as you all say but the core clock and everything is far better than the 8400 and it is also ddr3 and mine 8400 is ddr2 will it work slightly better then or not at all??
one of my friend has a p4 pc with pci-e slot and has some amd radeon card and it is around 4k but he plays gta iv at medium setting without any lag!! the 8400 that i have is taken from him only!! before he tried to play gta iv with 8400 then it gave very unplayable FPS and lagged too much!!!

yes it is true that pci 2.1 have problem in pci e1.0.your mobo very old so ithink you should look at 2.0 pci card for safer side. its your choice sometimes 2.1 cards works in 1.0 and sometimes not. or should i reccomeend you anothor pci 2.0 card?

I'll go to a computer shop near my home and ask him for hd 6450 1st if he tells that it will work then i'll go with it else i'll order forsa 610 from flipkart!

These computer shop chaps don't know anything about graphics cards. Which PCI version does your mobo has ? Most cards now days are PCI-e 2.1. And according to Wikipedia it is compatible with all older versions.

My older mobo doesn't support DDR3 RAM, but it has nothing to do with, what graphics card is, whether its DDR3 or DDR5.

To be honest, he will be wasting Rs.3000 for GT 610, as he already has 8400. There will not be much difference. GT 630 will be a smart choice if you can shell out 4000.

But, that too, if you have atleast 2GB RAM. That is must.

So, better option would be get atleast 2GB RAM for now, as all other said 610 wont be worth it. Later when you have money get a GT 630. Then you will be able to play your games at 'low' settings.

just one last question is bios update needed to work 2.0 graphics cards!!???
i found that many peoples said that we need latest bios installed in order to run 2.0 or 2.1 cards!!
i havnt done any bios update since i purchased my pc think so before 5-6 years!!!

dont get forsa 610. they are not well known brand and you may run in trouble if anything goes wrong with the card. just be safe and get zotac or evga or gigabyte or galaxy gt 610.
all these are much better than forsa.
also note that 610 is twice as powerful as 8400gs but its still a *** card for gaming.
better save up some money and get gt 630 or regret your purchase. gt 630 is the MINIMUM for gaming even on lowest settings.
and dont worry 630 will work fine on.your 250 watt psu i assure you.

This is what I said him earlier. But he didn't care to read it.

So, let him go for his own decision, he will regret later for sure.

With that GT610 or GT630 you'll never cross 1GB of your Cards memory. Why? Because games require more memory when you play on high settings, but those cards can't play the new games on 1240x1024 Medium settings or more. Hence, you should look for performance than the memory.

Its 8400GS, not 8800GS. No one will buy used 8400GS for even Rs.500. Some vendor whom you know, may keep it if you buy a new one from him.

Oh yeah thats 8400GS, but you can find many people who will buy a used GPU for a Rupees 1000.
I'm too a Indian and I know many people in India still don't know that a gpu performs better because of the technology not the VRAM installed.

Give it to your relatives, sell it to your friends or put it into Online selling sites like Ebay and OLX.

my friend has zotac nvidia 210 1 gb and he is able to play assasin's creed all versions on med setting all fifa on very high settings gta iv on med!!!!
610 must be better even a little bit!!!
i need the card only for a year then i am gonna buy a gaming laptop!!
nor i need xtreme performance form the card even on low settings its ok for 1 year n not a big deal!!!!

You should be able to play good. As you said you want that for this year only, its enough.



But buying a gaming laptop costs around 80,000 (Alienware ones, they are only good) whereas you can get a GTX 670 + i5 3570k and other good stuff for that much.

Laptop will rarely give good fps at max settings and they have a small screen. Many costly around 1 Lakh will be good. But at that you can get a gtx 690.

Buy a gaming laptop ONLY for its portability or else its a waste.
