Im going to build a new system with a P4. Im a bit stuck on which memory style to choose. There seems to be mixed thoughts on both. Can anyone give me some input as to which mem i should go for?? Thanks for any info.

I saw samsung RDRAM 256meg memory modules for 50 bucks, I was suprised. This was on price watch.

Don't know why mushkin charges 3 times that price for rdram.

Use RDRAM for a Pentium IV platform. If you use SDRAM, DDRSDRAM or SDRSDRAM, you will decrease the performance. P4's were designed around RDRAM. There are a lot of websites that have this info posted.

I also think that you should use RD RAM. Unless you're going AMD... of course...

Yeah man, now it sounds so affordable, it's starting to attract me, and it's Rambus!! ARGGHH!
Man it costs 156$ for 256MB compared to 139$ DDR Crucial... talk about better choices! I thought DDR is 4 times less strong...
I hope they lower prices on DDR soon, it just doesn't make sense to compete with RDRAM at 800MHZ costing near a 266MHZ one...

that musta taken some doing... either that or there is excess and low demand.

over here in australia,
prices from last thursday, taking local shop variances: all for 256mb sticks.
auzzie dollars of course.

PC133 generic = $109
PC133 hyundai = $115
PC2100 generic = $120-$155
PC2100 kingmax = $175
PC2400 kingmax = $185
PC2700 kingmax = $215
PC800 rdram = $215-$260

and just for comparisons sake
XP1900+ = $539 - $599
P4 2.0 478 = $969 - $1025

wow. cheap RDRAM.
still wouldnt buy it though, even if i had a P4.
never liked the way rambust did busness right from the start.

The lack of thermal protection on Athlon's is cunning way to stop morons from using AMD. :)
