Hi, I got a ~3 years old PC with following config:
- CPU: AMD Phenom II X3 720 (able to unlock 4th core, stable at 3.3-3.4 Ghz)
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA785G-UD3H
- PSU: AcBel 470W with 100W continuous OC
- RAM: 2x2GB DDR2 PC8500
My question is, would it be able to handle a HD7850/7870 (I read somewhere that the CPU will be the bottleneck)? or should I choose HD7770 instead?
The games I played are Torchlight 2, Diablo 3, etc.
I thought HD7850/7870 will be a good choice since I can upgrade my PC later (maybe in the next 2-3 years), but if it is not much different with HD7770 under my PC config, I would choose the HD7770.
i will recommend you to get the 7850 as it is way stronger than the 7770 and when you overclock it.. it will be close to the 570 or 580 ( cant remember which) and you are also saving quite alot as there are quite cheap 7850 models on neweggs which have rebates when u brought them.
How do you think about 7870 instead? since the price is not differ too much now?
One more question, is it better to wait for new Radeon 8xxx series, or just buy the 7850 now?
Actually the choice is really on you, if you have the extra budget that allows you to get the 7850 .. why not hmmm.. as for the 8xxx series.. do you need a graphic card urgently? if use buy the 7770 and save up for a stronger card like the 8xxx in the future
