[AMD] HD Radeon 7970 won't run at 120 hz.

I have a Benq 120hz screen with a d-sub cable, I've tested the screen on another computer. The cable and monitor run perfectly at 120hz. However when I plug into my main computer, my HD radeon Directcu II 3 gig won't run it at 120hz. I've tried both inputs for my d-sub cable to no avail. The odd thing is when I plug it into my desktop, it displays the screen as running on dvi, not d-sub.

I've spent quite awhile for searching for answers, but no one has quite had my problem from what I've read.

I would really appreciate a different avenue of thought.

My motherboard is a p8z68-v GEN3, if that has anything to do with it.

  1. I forgot to mention, I've used the bios switch and also tried both ports interchangeably and my drivers are up to date.
  2. Do you have another connection option for DUAL LINK DVI-D? The D-Sub option is only supposed to support up to 85hz as far as I'm aware.
