Hello everybody, I'm usually not one to ask for help but I'm nearly to the end of my rope on this one.
Long story short, I had a fine rig but decided to grab a new mobo, PSU, and replaced my cheap liquid cooling unit with a nicer air cooler during Black Friday. But when it arrived, the mobo wouldn't recognize the GPU or run the CPU properly. Got a new one and it ran the CPU and GPU fine except for when I started installing my programs I got a couple seemingly random blue screens. (MCE 0x124 uncorrectable hardware error, and one processor failed to respond in time) These crashes would pop up when just scrolling through Facebook or with a couple of tabs open, so I wasn't brave enough to run any games. But whenever I ran memtest etc. those tests would run fine. I also cleaned and reapplied thermal paste and watched my temperatures which were usually around 40C when the crash occurred although sometimes a little more. At this time the CPU has only been put in the new mobo once so I doubt bent pins etc.
So I did the usual troubleshooting, running with as few things as possible, different graphics cards, individual sticks of ram, etc. and no luck. So I went into the bios, noticed that, of course, Sandy Bridge processors default to 1333mhz so I changed that to 1600mhz and upped the Dimm voltage setting from 1500 to 1520 and that got me 15-20 minutes more of web browsing and Battlefield 3 loaded up without any problems. However since it wasn't completely stable I went looking for more things to try, and eventually tried turning Vdroop off (Which then leaves it up to the EVGA mobo to make sure that the CPU voltage doesn't drop under load) and that netted me a couple of hours of web browsing and gaming. But then that crashed as well so here I am asking for help before I pay for someone to look at it.
Ran with just CPU, GPU, and SSD/tried another HDD
Tried all four sticks of ram individually
Tried new GPU
bios fiddling - this was the first thing that showed results
