i have an acer 36x cd-rom and i can't seem to get windows to recognize it..... it worked fine before...but due to bull [-peep-] i had to format my computer and it worked fine during installation of windows......but in my computer the cdrom icon does not come up and nothing will auto start from my cd-rom.......any ideas???

Right click My computer/properties/device manager and double click the device for its properties. On settings tab, make sure "disconnected" is ticked and if DMA is ticked, untick it.

what if the device isn't present in the profile.....i don't have a cdrom in my devices tab

Ahh. Interesting. Try going to BIOS and changing the PnP aware OS option.

nope no go....i had usb disabled before.....but now i enableded it so would that case a concflict for my cdrom not to show???
