I tend to find the Radeon card for better prices but what's a good GPU for my budget build? Currently I've put the following together (note: This was done in about 10-15 minutes)

CPU: Phenom II X4 965
Motherboard: ASUS m5a99x
PSU: Corsair Builder CX600 <-- A 600W PSU and 10-5A input current
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB <-- I'm more familiar with Western Digital. Not sure how good SG is.
RAM: Crucial BallistiX Sport 8GB (4x2)
Case: Rosewill Challenger mid tower ATX <--I can forgoe pretty lights for a cool PC. But pretty lights don't hurt! :)

Now, as for the budget. My goal is to keep the price BELOW $600. I was originally looking at the Radeon HD 6870 but it'll push my budget a bit. If you have any suggested changes I'll be sure to listen.

But please tell me if you know a good GPU (the price range of $140-165 is acceptable...or below if you find something)

Mostly I'll probably use this for gaming.

GTX 650 ti is around 100-120$ and performance wise it's in the middle of Radeon 7770 and Radeon 7850. If you can find a cheap Radeon 7850 then it would be the ideal choice. I've seen the 7850 at 155$ on Newegg, so if you're in luck, you just might find a great deal.

Thank you. I'll definitely look into the 650 ti. The best part is that my monitor is a 1600x900 and I'm not changing it so I should run all or most games rather fine.

i would like to see you get a 7850 2Gbs:

PowerColor AX7850 2GBD5-DH Radeon HD 7850 2GB $184.99
$174.99 after $10.00 rebate

oh? then a 1gb will work (editing when i saw that)
PowerColor AX7850 1GBD5-DH Radeon HD 7850 1GB $169.99

and as much as the PSU you have is good, you can get a 500 watt one since you are not looking at powering a 7970:
if you do the rebate game saving $20:
CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 $59.99
$39.99 after $20.00 rebate card

if you don't use rebates saving $15
Antec NEO ECO 520C 520W Continuous Power $54.99

just some suggestions . . cheers.
