6970 vs 7950 vs 7850 vs 7870

Planning an upgrade. Swapping my old 4890 for a new card. I will be getting a 1080p monitor too, and will have a i5 3570k.

So, now i ask which gives the best bang for buck?

I'm trying to keep this as cheap as possible. The case i have right now may not ave room for anything more than 3 inches longer than the 4890, but if i have to i'll get a new case.

Also, if it's anything to consider, most likely won't be putting it together till march so price cuts are considered!

More about : 6970 7950 7850 7870

7870 is the best bang for you bucks. Its about as fast as GTX 660 Ti and GTX 580, 13% faster than HD 6970.

7850 is the next best bang behind hd 7870, but it is slower.

7950 is the fastest of them all. Whooping 27 ish % faster than HD 6970, it is on par with gtx 670 in many populat games and is much faster than HD 7870. It is also a very good bang for your bucks. Can also OC to hd 7970 levels

Concensus, get hd 7950 if your psu(or wallet) can take it. HD 7870 is the next best thing

I won't need it till march, do you think there will be any price cuts before then? anything new coming out or expected?

Definitly, word up the street is the next gen amd cards get released at that time. Price of old technology always drop over time, so you could very well be seeing cheaper hd 7XXX cards.

Oh yea, i read some where the 7870 2nd gen, Hd 8870 is about as fast as gtx 680 but consumes less power than hd 7870. Huge grain of salt, but could be possible

The general rule of thumb buy the single most powerful card you can afford. Now out of the cards your inquiring about 7950 is the way to go ;)
