I have a problem. I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with an Intel i7 2.2GHz processor, 8 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GT525m dedicated graphics chip and what not. My problem is, when I play games, I find a good area of settings for little to no lag whatsoever, but after a while of playing the games, with no lag, it starts to lag REALLY bad. I'm talking like 2 FPS bad. It had never done this at all when I bought it, and after a while it started to do it. Decided to wipe my computer, updated all drivers, and tried out GTA IV. Whaddaya know. Did it again. I've looked all over and cannot find an answer. Very frustrating. If anyone can help me, that would be so great.

It seems like that the laptop is overheating and causing the GPU to downclock itself

Can you clean the vents with can of compressed air and maybe elevate the back of the laptop with the vents? (or get a laptop cooler) I had a similar problem (which caused the gpu to overheat and start producing artifacts)
