hello all,

i am thinking about building my first computer and was looking to get some advice and opinions. i will be mainly using it for school work, some games (i.e. battlefield, borderlands), and streaming HD movies. heres what i had in mind so far:

i left out an Intel 520 Series Cherryville 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk and also an LG blu ray disc drive since i already have them.

Thanks in advanced!

well I would get 2 x4 gb ram and not get two separate ram sticks
you can save some money and downgrade the psu to 500-550watts

I'd replace RAM because you really don't want to go under 1600MHz and the GPU because 7770 is quite a bit faster for relatively same amount of money:

Pick a much better card, like the 660 gtx, 430w of the corsair will do, the card just pull maximum of 140w, the cpu 77w maximum, it will not draw more than 250w at load.

I think ill go with soda-88's video card suggestion since id like to stay below $150 in that category

@djangoringo i see you put an asrock mobo. Is that a reliable brand? I picked gigabyte bc i heard they were really good (read it somewhere on these forums i think)

Also, would overclocking help my system with what i am using it for?
