My monitor screen is like 22 inch big and i really want to play on 1900x1080 resolution with max/ultra settings.

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.7GHz

If you have a well known brand PSU, go for a EVGA GTX 670

If you have a well branded PSU, of course it will. However I don't recommend a GTX 580 as BF3 and Skyrim (with mods) tend to take up way more than 1GB VRAM and the GTX 580 only has 1.5 GB, so it might not be sufficient for 1080p. I can recommend you two other cards that will be perfect for 1080p gaming-

AMD HD 7870 <-- This the cheaper one, but is still good
or
AMD HD 7950 <--- This is the more powerful one

No, no, no and no. BF3 and Skyrim runs WAY better on Nvidia GPUs. Look for yourself!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaXVrCFvL94

Benchmarks from 5:38. you'll see even GTX 660 isn't that far behind Radeon 7950 and beats 7870 by a margain, so GTX 660 ti or GTX 670 would the best GPUs for him, if his PSU allows it, else GTX 660 is pretty power efficient so I'm sure he'll run it, and it uses less power than Radeon 7850.

Nvidia owns the 1920x1080 market which is this guy's resolution and you do not show ANY benchmarks of 1920x1080, so that is garbage.

Well that is lates review you will find with new drivers. There is 1920x1200. So just add 2-5 Fps more and there you have it.

Learn more before posting plz. In this way you confuse the OP.

So if he can tell me the budget and PSU model i can give him the best option's !

Edit : + Nvidia need more $ that AMD

I run Skyrim at ultra settings with 12 Graphics enhancements on 1920x1080 and I get about 100 fps on GTX 660.

And how would you explain that drivers has reduced performance in games? Look at my link maybe??? You might be surprised that not all sources are reliable.

We're giving him the best price/performance GPU, which the GTX 660 series aren't superb in. Granted, the GTX 660 ti is better than a HD 7870, but at $50-60 premium, which he could buy the HD 7950 instead, which gives a better performance.

In other words

7950>660ti>7870>660

I would have recommended him a GTX 670, but it is clear that he doesn't want one.

Linustechtips get 115 fps with HD texture packs at ultra settings with no enhancements on. I get about 100 fps and I got about 12 graphics enhancements, HD texture packs and ultra settings, how can that be a lie? I can even post a youtube video where I play with that fps if needed.

Post it pls. I want to see all cranked up. They make the bench with High End CPU and they dont get such a fps. Searched all the reviews i could find and there is none that can reach such fps

And you talk to me as if I don't know anything?

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2012/05/01/intel-...

When it comes to gaming, then i5-3570k actually is just as good as i7-3960x.

i5 CPUs are meant for gaming, pure compute power is for the i7 CPUs.

Give me that link plz . With 100 fps. And even a review cuz i couldnt find anyone.

Not other ****.

Edit : That i5 needs 5Ghz to match that i7

Rabbit, don't listen to the Nvidia fanboy. He's just trying to fool you with the much more expensive cards

I'm no fanboy? I agree Radeon 7870 is the superior GPU, but not in those 2 specific games as the OP would like to play. BF3 is coded for Nvidia GPUs, not because GTX 660 is faster.

Yes, it was initially coded for Nvidia GPU's, but things have changed especially with the 12.11 drivers. Go to any benchmark comparison showing the new 12.11 drivers and you will see better results on both the games.

In fact, I am quite suprised you don't believe Skyrim is better on AMD. Its been like that for a loong time :)

You might got a point in that. Nvidia really has to step their drivers up soon, it's a long time ago they came out with a decent driver.

But you have to agree on it makes no sense, that performance is supposed to have been lowered with the newer drivers since GTX 660 launched. Both on the AMD and the Nvidia side.

What! :heink:  Why is that? Nvidia gone :pt1cable:

I posted a benchmark where GTX 660 got 115 fps at ultra settings, HD textures and at 1920x1080. With the old WHQL drivers 306.97. I myself get about 100 fps with some graphic enhancements.

Then Prototype18 posted another "newer" benchmark where it only ran at 61 fps?
How in the world is it possible that performance has been worse over such a short time, with newer and better drivers?

Same goes as with Radeon 7870, the performance on his benchmark is worse too than on mine.

Read this thread, Wow its very entertaining.

Well I'm too a nvidia fanboy and have GTX 660 myself BUT new AMD drivers proved that AMD is the best GPU maker!
The 7870 which used to get lower fps than a gtx 660 now gets better fps than GTX 660 Ti !

Now AMD has taken the BF3 favoring too. Earlier GTX 660 defeated 7870 but now 7870 outperforms the GTX 660 and is near GTX 660 Ti.

7970 is up on grill, its better than any single GPU on the planet. Nvidia can now only feel proud on their GTX 690.
