Network icon not working

Hello i have just installed windows 7 home on my core i5 2500k machine and everything was working fine, but the windows network icon on the task bar shows i have no connection even though i am connected to the internet and everything works fine. Any ideas why this is happening? How can i fix it?

are there by chance 2 ethernet ports? Or you installed a wrong driver (or let windows install a wrong driver automatically?)

Only 1 Ethernet port. I installed the drivers from the gigabyte site (as that is the MoBo maker) and everything worked fine. However then after installing several updates it "broke" itself. So i guess windows could have installed a bad driver, but i have tried reinstalling the "good" driver and nothing.

To fix my aero themes problem and it seems to have fixed my ethernet icon issue also kinda weird but ill take it. So thx though
