Alright, I'll start out by giving you my current PC stats.

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
Intel Quad 6600 2.4Ghz
2 X 2GB DDR2 400Mhz RAM
Radeon 5770
Corsair 550 Watt Power Supply

I want to upgrade my Video Card, but I guess I'm just not if it's worth it with my current specs. If I did buy a new card, I would eventually grandfather it into a newer build, but I can get a card as a gift right now. The slot in the Mobo is a PCI-E x16.

I know there would be some major bottle necking. I was thinking a Nvidia 660. My price range is $300 or less, so if anyone has a suggestion. It would be nice. I just wanna run Planetside 2 on high settings. :D

You should be able to get a 660ti for 300 bucks right now. Also a 7950 can be found on sale for 300.

GTX 660 ti can be found for $300 and does great on Planetside maxed. Also, it comes with 2 free games (on select models) from newegg, Assassins Creed 3 and Borderlands 2. 2 of the best games of this year!

Happy Gaming!!

you want need a new PSU and about your pci-e slot it will be good

but i think your CPU will bottleneck your card

Planetside 2 sucks on AMD cards. He only wants t play Planetside 2, so an Nvidia GTX 660 ti will suffice

Planetside 2 is very poorly optimised for AMD GPU's. Granted, the HD 7950 is a very good card, but on planetside 2, it will be very unreliable and he will not be able to access the best features available in the game, like TXAA, PhysX, etc

I have heard the 660Ti is a mish mash of different hardware and wasn't a very good card. Is there any good comparisons between the two?
