Very recently, I detected a problem with Win XP on my deskcomputer
that I could not solve.
USB devices, like memory keys (or anything else removable), is no
more in full action when connected *during* a Win XP session.
You can still find traces of it on the Win info on device management -
reporting on bus and root for USB- but by no way it appeared anymore
in the Win Explorer directory, next to C, D, E and so on. So no
direct working access to it is avaiable.
It is as if the system has detected the device but refuses to
aknowledge it automatically to a direct working link (eg I, H, or any
other letter for devices)
One week ago it was still working perfectly and this since 2 years,
and I did not change anything in the USB pre-settings in Win.
To be noted:
if I plug in a USB device to an inlet BEFORE starting the computer, it
is then detected and still put automatically "to work" (appearing in
the directory next ot C...etc) as normal.
No need to say that the Windows help function leads to nowhere
concerning this problem.
And that my external devices are perfectly working when connected to
other computers;..
Could somebody give me a procedure to restaure the normal working of
these USB inlets on my desktop computer (automatic detrection AND
automatic confirmation, at any moment during a session, if we connect
something to it.
