Audio not working a little advice :)

Ok so specs on pc are

Antec nine hundred two V3
ASUS m5a97 le r2.0 Mobo
AMD Phenom II X4 3.4 Black Edition Processor
Kingston Hyper x Beast 2x4gb DDR3 2133 RAM
EVGA Geforce GTS 250 Video Card
Raidmax 630W Power Supply
MSI DVD burner
Seagate 1 TB HDD

Razer DeathAdder
Razer Lycosa Keyboard
Razer Carcharias

I Built it got Windows 7 Professional 64 bit installed, all the audio worked. Now I recently upgraded to a EVGA Geforce gtx 280 after installation NO SOUND. I have reinstalled the drivers checked all the settings and my BIOS and have come up short. HD audio is plugged in to MOBO.

So far i have come up with getting a suond card testing that and seeing where it goes from there. I am almost 90% sure it is a software issue not hardware but hey we have all been wrong before.

I am decently tech savy so the quick hey its not plugged in or hey you have the wrong drivers stuff has been checked once twice three even 4 times. Hope someone can help...

Update so I just hooked up the gts 250 and still no sound when previously it worked.

Goto control panel / sound and check the setting for the standard playback device. It might be set to hdmi after the gts250 install.

so this is what my sound settings look like http://imgur.com/8YYoV says speakers not plugged in even though they are. no hdmi settings. also the show disconnected and disabled are checked.
