Since AMD does not have pci 3.0 motherboards, what preformance drop will I get if I run it through this board?
If you've got any other suggestions for components around (+/- 100$) please state them.
Thanks

How come? Is it hyper threading or something else? I've always thought, generally the more cores the better.

For every 2 claimed cores, the AMD series has 1.5... they share a "module," which is similar to hyperthreading.

That being said, the i5 has only 4 cores, but they blow AMD's modules out of the water... and virtually no game uses more than 4 cores. Most still only use 2.

Thanks, you've most likely changed my mind. For gaming, would this build, run something like planetside 2 or arma well? They're both CPU intensive games and I'm mainly focused on the cpu

Which build? AMD or Intel?

The Intel rig will run both of those better, but keep in mind, planetside 2 is still very, VERY horribly optimized. With a i5-3570k and GTX 670, it was lagging more than was tolerable, even in menus.

But yeah, for gaming right now, it's no competition. (It makes me sad, as I'm an AMD fanboy, but they've had their pants around their knees for too long now.)
