Stuck at bios screen, cmnds don't work

i had just set the computer up at a friends house. was updating free avira software and running the itunes exe file. computer froze. could not access processes. manually turned off comp. now it will not go past boot screen. bios commands will not work. ideas? my ex built this computer and i know nada about hardware.... but should i take it apart and put it back together? try again? HELP!!!!

Can you provide some more details please? Can you get pass the bios screen? Do you hear a beep after you power on the computer? Are the CPU and PSU fan running? Your best bet is to reset the cmos jumper or take out the cmos battery and put it back in. Refer to your motherboard manual on how to do so.
