I have managed to aquire and adaptec 2940 scsi controller and a scsi disk (for free). I was wondering if there is any real point in going through the hassle of installing it into my current system (ata100 IDE system). The reason being I would probably have to upgrade my power supply as well as it is already pretty stressed.
The question is compared to ata 100 will it be any quicker.
Obviously scsi is much better at handling sustained data transfers than IDE, but ATA100 should have a burst rate of 100mbps compared to 40mbps sustained of the adaptec.
Any thoughts. I was thinking of allocating all of my swap file to the scsi drive if it was worth it.
