I built a pc about 7 months ago, and now I want to build a better one. However, i want some opinions from you guys on what its worth. I plan on selling it locally but im confused as to what its going to really go for.
Though probably a bit more difficult, I'd probably try just selling the core system (CPU/Motherboard/RAM). New, those three components would come to about $270. I'd probably try to sell them as a core system upgrade for about $200-$225. I think this way, you'd lose the least amount of money
Its hard to say what a used system will sell for. I would sell it piece by piece in order to get the most money out of it. One way to see what the parts go for is to check eBay. Can I ask why you are selling? Like others have said, it would not take much to make that go from a decent computer to a faster one. Although an Intel switch would be ideal, just upgrading the cpu and adding an SSD will make it perform like a whole new rig.
I really just want to build another, I enjoy doing it. I'm trying to build them and make some money.
I understand the sentiment, but unfortunately, you're going to be hard pressed to actually make money from custom builds unless you have a lot of generous friends or stumble across the occasional, "Oooh! SHINY!" customer.
I put together your system (minus the wireless and extra fans) for a little over $1K, new. It's used so knock off 20%. More than six months, so another 5% With the fans and wireless card, I think you could probably ask about $760.
