This is the first time I'm going to build my own computer. I have two slightly different builds that I like, but I'm having a hard time deciding between the two. Which one do you guys like better? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/y9hk or http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ycPY

I'll be using it mainly for gaming (WoW, TF2, GW2, CS:GO, Planetside 2, Skyrim).

lol, definitely intel 3470 hands down :D

even at the highest OC, phenom couldnt match i5 at default clock while sucking twice power

The intel will be a bit faster, but honestly, the Phenom II will be more than enough for that card / the sort of gaming you're looking at - the only things it would struggle with is Skyrim on max and wow in cities.

(Ditch the crap-o PSU on that rig, though, and get a reliable one.)

Hi. I prefer the Intel build and you can just pair the processor with a H77 motherboard. Also a 550W PSU will be sufficient for both builds like the Rosewill HIVE 550W for $50 after rebate from Newegg.

Edit: Here's a building guide with videos: http://techreport.com/review/23624/how-to-build-a-pc-th...

the intel rig.
and i took the liberty of making a few changes. its a bit silly to chop off 1TB of storage to save $20. (500Gb will be enough unless you got a buttload of movies) but the added $20 by going with an XFX 550, which is enough, will open the door to getting an MSI 7870 HAWK; an outstanding card.

just a thought.
