Hi everyone. I'm back for another question. (sorry for being so noob) . i got 50-60% gpu usage on both cards in bf3 multi (ultra),30%usage (low).90+%usage in single player(ultra),and 90+% usage with a single card (ultra). So the problem must be my cpu ,right?

system:
cpu: X4 955
mobo:Asus m5a99x evo
graphic cards: gigabyte Radeon hd 7850 2gb, His hd 7850 2gb
RAM:8gb Gskill
PSU corsair gs 800

Solution
Its your CPU bottlenecking you, multiplayer bf3 is very CPU intense... So when you play multiplayer your CPU is limiting your FPS to the 35-55 fps that you are seeing, not your video cards. Your GPUs are running at 50% because that is all they need to run at to achieve the FPS that your CPU is allowing.

Thanks for the reply ,bud.
I didnt have my frame rate locked. When crossfired, on ultra setting i get like 50-60fps , worse in 64 player server(35-55fps) which is almost the same performance as my single card (even a little worse). However in single player, the frame rate is 70-110 on ultra while my single card get 45-60.

thx for reply!
I swapped between catalyst 12.10 and 12.11 beta. Almost no difference between my bf3 frame rates. The 3dmark 11 graphic score is a bit higher with 12.11 beta (its like 12000 on p level). I think the crossfire is working well on other games with pretty high gpu usage. But in bf3 multi, its not.i play bf3 most :(

I'd say that its probably a cpu bottleneck happening as bf3 multi is very cpu intensive.
Have you tried lowering the res while you're in a populated server? If the frames don't change much it will be cpu

Beat you to it by seconds! :)

I lowered the rez to 1680x1050, fps is the same. lowered to 1280x1024,fps comes to avg 60,but still went to 40+fps sometimes.gpu usage is also 50%

thx for reply derza.
So i think i need to upgrade my cpu. will the fx 8150 or 8350 help?

Yes the 8350 would be your best upgrade path (for the money if your motherboard supports it). If your motherboard won't support it an i5 3570k would be best performance upgrade.

EDIT: Just looked back up at your first post - yes the 8350 will work. Make sure you get a decent CPU cooler if you don't already have one and OC it a bit. Hyper 212 evo would be best for the $.

the 8350 is amds best gaming cpu.

My mobo is an AM3+ one, so i can only go with amd cpus. My buddy got a 3570k, i will bring my 2 graphic cards to his place and test it out to see if the i5 can make the gpu usage to 90%. :)

An overclocked 8350 can match or beat a stock i5 3570k, but an overclocked i5 3570k will outperform it by a decent amount.
