Hi everyone, this is my first computer build and my first video card ever bought. I currently own an MSI HD7970 ( at default speeds, for some reason whenever I try to play any game or run Furmark my gpu crashes or freezes. Heat spikes up to 80-90 degrees, I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I did an uninstall of drivers, did driver wipe, and reinstalled the AMD Catalyst_12.11 Beta 8 software.

Other specs:
CPU: i5 3570k clocked at 4.2ghz
Mobo: p8z77-v lk
RAM: Patriot G2 8gb
PSU: Antec HCP-850
GPU: MSI HD 7970 R7970-2PMD3GD5

There is a pretty good chance that it is broken. That sounds like classic gpu failure I am sorry to say. The good news is that you should definitely still be under warranty. So you should have it replaced pretty easily.

My first video card, never expected this.. Are all MSI cards usually like this? I am not sure if I should replace or return and get a different card... And thanks for the reply :)

I have never had an msi card. No they aren't like that, They are in general pretty highly rated. If it makes you feel any better, the same thing happened with my first card. If it is under newegg's return policy, I bet you would get it back pretty fast though.
