I'm getting pretty tired of them calling me, asking for help and then spending way more time than necessary to fix a problem because a.) they suck at describing the problem, and b.) trying to walk them through it since they are fairly computer illiterate. Is there any way I can take control of their computer from my house, like IT departments do on corporate computers? This way I can see what their problem is, and fix it myself.

VNC Viewer works rather well. You'll see and use their desktop like you are sitting right there. Can do just about anything from your machine as if you were actually at theirs.

Get it free
HERE.

Set up your machine as the client and theirs as the server. It can be configured to run as a service if desired.
