Graphics glitching during games

I recently built my first rig. Went surprisingly well, booted up the first time with no real problems, etc. The computer flies, handles almost everything perfectly, etc. The only problem I have is that whenever I play a game (League of Legends, Eve Online, Battlefield), the screen starts twitching at times, artifacting, or just slightly cutting out. When I'm not playing a game, this never happens. I suspect this is the video card acting up? I'm using a Sapphire 7950. I just want to make sure that's the issue before I contact Newegg for a return. Should I consider switching to a different card?

Thanks

  1. Have you tried to overclock the card at all? do you have any type of programs telling your temperatures?
  2. use this to check your temp http://www.hwinfo.com/ and see if the fan spin on the graphic card.
