FX 8350 vs i5 3570k (Overclocking) (Gaming)

Hey, I need to know which of these is better. FX 8350 vs i5 3570k

I want it for : Gaming, Adobe Softwares, Many other Multitasking. Gaming is more important though. :D
I will surely buy a aftermarket CPU Fan and Overclock both CPU. I'll not buy and very costly one, just that which is better than the stock cooler.

Please, I know many of you guys are against FX series but give me a wise answer.

Which would be better after OCing to around 4.5 or 5Ghz ?

Which will be better for Applications? Maybe FX 8350 because of 8 cores and more Threads. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I've heard FX series OC very nicely but i5 is better for gaming.
I've also heard that you can't enable all 8 cores. Is it true?

More about 8350 3570k overclocking gaming
  1. 3570K is more powerful, cheaper, and runs cooler. What more could you want?
  2. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2012/05/01/intel-core-i5-3570k-cpu-review/6

Well really easy. I5 hands down.

Edit : Hyper 212 Evo (i own that and its pretty good) or if you want water cooling get a custom one
  3. both are around the same price,
i know u think that fx is not that bad, and it's true its not that bad.
but i5 3570 is just....... better
since u said gaming is most imp. i will tell u according to that,
most games today use only 2 core, few use 4 cores so 8 cores for gaming is not helpful at all!
and why overclock, go through all that hassle so that it can just compete with 3570
i say just get a regular 3570 and u will have the best pc
  4. for gaming 3570k for adobe 8350

best gaming cpus for the money Nov
  5. So you guys suggest a i5. Right?
Well i5 doesn't lose by way too much in Adobe, and same for FX 8350 in games. The difference is just a 0.5 fps.

Now tell which will be better when OCed ? I am really gonna OC them.
  6. Lol, the FX-8350 BSODs at STOCK speeds WITH A LIQUID COOLER, look around, newegg reviews, etc...

The i5 is way better, better stock speeds, 4 cores and not 4 BS modules make for a cooler experience, and the LGA1155 motherboards are just in general better than 990FX ones, also, if you go with AM3+ you will need to upgrade to Intel in the future anyways, since AMD never really made gaming CPUs.
  7. +1 for i5, best gaming CPU around without paying for stuff you dont need. Also note you probably arent going to be running one at 5ghz.
  8. an i5 can go upto 4 or if u push it 5Ghz!!
  9. It can, with great cooling, but I dont think its a great idea to run it at that speed on a daily basis. 4 is easy but 5 is a far bit further.
  10. Ok then.
Well now tell me a best mobo for this.

    It should have space for this : G.skill 8 GB 1600Mhz (2x4GB)
A Pcie 3x16 slot and other necessary features. Mainly for GTX 660

    I prefer this site : www.flipkart.com

Search for the Best Motherboard Under Rupees 6000. The more cheap, the better!
I know a very little about Mobos. So help please.

And also suggest me a CPU fan which will run the CPU cooler than the stock one. Under Rupees 650.
  11. hey if u want to overclock u cannot skip an expensive mobo.
if u dont want to overclock any mobo with lga1155 will do.
bcoz pci-e 3.0 dosent make a noticable difference anyway.
  12. Why can't I skip the expensive ones?
I had Gigabyte GA-G41M Motherboard and I used to OC my Pentium D to 3.36 Ghz. And even more but the temps usually went too high. I once OC'ed to 3.7 Ghz
  13. wow!!!!!!
well i guess u CAN oc.
but z77 is preferred for OC i guess and just..... safer.
but if u know wat u r doing then, well...

and the mobo u picked, is micro ATX so it's a little small, u will have to really think about the airflow in your case if u want to overclock cuz people say its kindia cramped, air flow is imprtant in OC or u can just use liquid cooling
  14. I'm not going to OC too high. Just a little like .2 or .4 Ghz

So tell me any good mobo in that range. And a CPU Fan too.
I just want a CPU Fan because I want my Processor to run at low temps. Low temps are better, Right?
  15. Asus Maximus V FORMULA

GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UP5 **Won Tom’s Hardware 2012 Recommended Buy Award**

    MSI Z77A-GD65
    **Tom’s Hardware Award**

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    cpu cooling
**i would match these with the msi or gigabyte board**
    ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B

    Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme

these to pair with the asus mobo
    Noctua NH-D14

    ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-R
  16. the one above me says a z77 mobo, too most people WILL suggest z77 bcoz...
well that one is really good to OC
    i found the cheapest one
    http://www.flipkart.com/msi-z77ma-g45-motherboard/p/itmdd2xszmdy5w58?pid=MBDDD2HGQNGMK429&ref=9b696bb4-4c9b-4a62-8292-5bf973bcbd84&srno=t_1&otracker=from-search&query=z77
a little over your budget, but after this u can overclock the best.
    and for cooler
    http://www.flipkart.com/cooler-master-hyper-tx3-evo/p/itmd5xzprhxvefrj?pid=COLD5XZPV75JZAEZ&ref=2d54ceaa-1eec-44b6-9988-a28f99386586&srno=t_7&otracker=from-search&query=cooler
this has the best price/performance ratio.
but if u want to step up to an ATX from micro ATX
    http://www.flipkart.com/asrock-z77-pro4-motherboard/p/itmd9urzecm64tsg?pid=MBDD9UR4VHWGAQP8&ref=9b696bb4-4c9b-4a62-8292-5bf973bcbd84&srno=t_2&otracker=from-search&query=z77

or maybe u can save all this money on expensive mobo aftermarket cooler and a k-CPU
and just get a non k processor, it's not that bad.
  17. So whats the difference between 3570k and 3570?
I need to know whichever is better.
  18. The K is unlocked for overclocking.
  19. So you can't OC a 3570 ?
  20. Its my understanding that anything from Intel in the current gen that doesnt have a K on the end cant be overclocked. So no you will need the K model.
  21. Sumukh_Bhagat said:
    So you can't OC a 3570 ?

Some motherboards support overclocking non K cpu's but the most you can overclock is an extra 400mhz or .4 ghz.

So since the i5 3570 has a base clock of 3.4 ghz and boosts to 3.8 ghz you can achieve a maximum of 4.2 ghz.

If I were you I would pay the extra $15 so if needed you could add another 300mhz+ to the OC
  22. Sumukh_Bhagat said:
    So you can't OC a 3570 ?

well u can overclock almost anything,
but not all CPU's and mobo's are meant for that.
bcoz of overheating and maybe overvoltage,
before intel didn't want people to OC and if u did, u would void your warranty at that time!!
    they wanted this to STOP!

    but times hav changed
now intel seperates some CPU's that are meant for OC and names them in a different way,
they add a k at the end of it, so u know u this one is MEANT to OC. that's wat the k stands for.....
  23. So i5 3570k is better for OC and gaming. Right?
But the problem is a Mobo that could handle it nicely.
So search me a good mobo. That can handle a maximum of 400 Mhz OC. (Not more than this is necessary)

    It should have space for this : G.skill 8 GB 1600Mhz (2x4GB)
It shouldn't have crossfire or SLI support, no problem if there will be.
A Pcie 3x16 slot and other necessary features. Mainly for GTX 660

    I prefer this site : www.flipkart.com

Search for the Best Motherboard Under Rupees 6000. The more cheap, the better.
  24. well, if u get a z77 mobo with k series CPU u can go above 400Mhz NO problem.
i say get a z77 and forget all the worries.
i already gave u a link to the cheapes mobo in z77 chipset.
    that one has 4 mem slots, 2 pci-e 3.0 at 16x and 8x.
it is 1700 more than your budget but it is worth it.
and will probably last u a long time.
    i say go for it
  25. He don't want to spend more in CPU or Mobo.
Mobo barely effects in gaming. My friend has already smoked all money in GPU, which is worth it.

So what do you think without OCing the i5 3570k performs good or not?
Specially with this Mobo ; http://www.flipkart.com/asrock-b75m-gl-motherboard/p/itmdcpwswcsehgdz?pid=MBDDCPWRGG6FGW5F&ref=5df2513b-0b39-414d-8653-d1a072f26248
  26. Wait a Minute.
Whats the point of buying k Model if he can't OC with these Mobos. Right?

I've checked the charts. And the only Model that stands with 3570k and 3770k is i5 3470.
So its good to get i5 3470 with this ASRock B75M-GL

    So guys whats your opinion?
    i5 3470 with ASRock B75M-GL is a good idea. Isn't it?
  27. It's great. Not the best, but great.
  28. well i thought u wanted to OC,
i dont like OC as WELL!!!!!
u spend more on cpu, more on mobo, more on cooler, and after all that hassle u get some performence boost., which is not worth it!!
    i say just get a regular non k CPU, just a regular 3570 i5
and save 35 $ then save another 30$ on mobo and another 20$ on cooler.
that is the best according to me.
and if u save all this money u can get a better GPU or even an i7!!!!
i say just go with regular non k CPU u will save money, time and hassle tOO!!
and u will get almost the same performance!!

The performance boost is actually impressive for money spent. And i7 is definitely not worth it.

yeah i7 is not useful in gaming, but he could go for a better GPu which DEFINATELY worth it. i know sumukh already has a 660 but he WILL save money which is not that bad.
anyway an i5 3570, is awesome for gaming and it will be a long time before he needs more power for a decent 30FPS gaming.
but again that's just my opinion about it, we're just different people with diff. opinions
  31. Actually this is for my friend. He too chose a GTX 660 but the Gigabyte one.

Okay he has ordered the i5 3470. Now time for ordering the Mobo
    This looks better : http://www.flipkart.com/gigabyte-ga-b75m-d3h-motherboard/p/itmdacp36gegyeqt?pid=MBDDACP2GUBGFPFM&ref=5df2513b-0b39-414d-8653-d1a072f26248
    Or this one http://www.flipkart.com/msi-b75ma-p45-motherboard/p/itmdekmkw4czwyga?pid=MBDDEKGRSBE8BDJZ&ref=27d22044-38e4-43ff-b959-eb79efbfe3be

These mobos are better than the AsRock right? I'm worried about PCI-E Slot.
    Which is better among those?
  32. http://www.flipkart.com/msi-b75ma-p45-motherboard/p/itmdekmkw4czwyga?pid=MBDDEKGRSBE8BDJZ&ref=27d22044-38e4-43ff-b959-eb79efbfe3be
i'd go for the MSI it says pci 3.0 x16 the other one is also x16 but since 2.0 and 3.0
dont make a difference anyway, both of them will be indentical.
now it's just about brand preference, MSI or GIGABYTE.
and both have the same chipset, same mem slots, same price.
and if your friend dosent know anything about OC just get this B75 mobo with a non k CPU. he already has a 660, so he is good to go.
  33. I'd really try stretching to this one:

    http://www.flipkart.com/msi-zh77a-g41-motherboard/p/itmdeh3fjcdga8gc?pid=MBDDEG8JE46VYZ39

It's ATX form factor, which means it has more expansion. Also, H77 chipset means you get twice as many SATA 3.0 ports.

So what do you think, everythings right? Will everything fit properly? :ange:
    Thanks for your help.
  36. Well, you never mentioned the case in which those parts have to fit in :P. But yea, they're compatible with each other.
  37. That case, yeah. Its his problem  He'll get that buy himself.

Okay guys Thanks for you Help. Just going to call him and tell all these and Done. :)

None of those MOBOS will let you overclock . A Z77 will be the best choice, if you'd like good overclocking potential.
  39. thats why he got non k series.

Its better right? But how much?

Just asking, he has ordered everything. But tell me, I want to know.
  42. On CPU intensive games, up to 20%.
  43. You mean games like Skyrim and Wow?
We can OC in that Z77 Mobo, Right?

I personally don't like those games.
  44. Well he can OC that CPU . Depends on cooling but with a good air one 4.5 easily.

    He will notice the diference.

  47. Damn!!!
your build is over man, just go with a regular non-k and dont worry about overclocking.
for just 2 or 3 games u r getting a expensive cpu, mobo and cooler?
    and skyrim?
with a cpu as weak as the g850 and a gpu like 7850
    u get 60 FPS!!!
    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/budget-gaming-do-it-yourself-computer,3364-11.html
and that is in 1080p with 8xMSAA.
    was this your "DEMANDING" game?
just because u love OC dosent mean u HAVE convince others to OC too.
and the games that are cpu demanding are not as demanding as u think.
plus he is getting a QUAD core i5!!! u r safe for a looooong time.
just go with a regular i5-3570 a regular mobo, and u will still get AWESOME performance.
