Boy. That sounds serious.

Maybe your video card is going out?

It's your CPU and your video card, mostly your video card. Try bumping down the resolution, and/or going to 16-bit color.

just hope it wont happen on a athlon xp 1800+ GeForce 3, been waiting to try out max payne after everything ive heard about it :)

An athlon 1.4 tbird with a GF3 can run at the highest resolution and never dip below 60 fps.

Of course, that won't keep you interested in the game for more than a week or two - trust me.

Yeah, you said it.

I just played through the entire thing last weekend. The sniper rifle is really neat, and when you chuck a greande and bullet time kicks in and shows the guy flying is neat too.

Overall, just neat. Not awesome or enthralling, just neat. Multiplayer might have actually been worth buying the game.

I run Max Payne on my P2-266, Geforce2 MX, 640x480x32 without problems...

I had a TNT 2 Ultra and a p3 at 600, and I got fairly good fps at 800x600 at medium to low detail settings. Looked good and only got badly choppy in the intro sequence and in the lobby of the main tower building.
