Until I can get (afford) a good GPS with mapping capabaility for my
motorcycle I'm having to build an interim solution with the hardware I
currently have which is a Palm IIIx and a Garmin GPS 12.
I already have the data cable for the Garmin to connect to a PC which
terminates in a female DB9 serial connector.
From an earlier post, I understand, I think I will need a PalmIII Null Modem
Cable with a male connector to successfully connect the two. I searched the
pc-mobile web site, but couldn't find such an animal.

Do you know where I can buy one of these?

Also, how tight of a connection can I expect the null modem cable to make to
the Palm? From looking at the connector in the base of the unit where it
mates with the cradle, I'm having a hard job visualizing how any connection
there would be very snug.

Tks again.....

Or just buy the travel hotsync cable, which is basically just like a
cradle electrically. Then you can plug the two together with a
plain old double-male-DB9 NULL modem.

Not that it will be very compact. If you want compact, buy one of
each cable and them apart, then solder together the appropriate wires
and away you go.

Or just use the regular cable and put a null modem at the DB9 end.

If you're solder-aware, buy a DB9 connector and shell, chop off the
original DB9 then attach the new DB9 swapping pins 2 and 3.
