EVGA GTX 680 4GB; Error Code 7

Hi forum people! Recently I bought a very nice graphics card off Amazon (Newegg was out of stock D:) Anyway, it arrived and I installed everything, but the moment I tried to play a simple game (Minecraft...yea, I know it's pathetic), the game crashed within several minutes.

Things I have tried:

-Reinstall Java 64Bit (did not work)
-Update to newest drivers and reinstall newest drivers (did not work)
-Check for hardware problem (took to reputable computer store, ran diagnostics, did not work)
-Reinstall Motherboard drivers (did not work)
-Run Unigine Heaven Benchmark to see any issues=perfect rendering and score, but crashes for Minecraft
-Reinstall OS (RESULTS PENDING ^_^ NO CRASHES YET)

It is an OpenGL problem=FPS drop to 0, extreme screen tearing, screen goes dark, screen comes back up, MC is not responding-->Force Quit

I called EVGA, they said it might be Firmware on the SSD, it might be memory, it might be a WHOLE LIST OF THINGS....

I have not tried it on different games that require OpenGL outside maybe...Google Earth? xD I will try Spore soon though.

I also ran OC Scanner X to stress test the GPU...Perfect score, no artifacts.

So my question to you fine people today is this...

Should I, or should I not, return the graphics card just for the sake or removing any possible hardware issues IF THE OS-REINSTALL-FIX does not work? It is free, mind you. But I do have until December 11 to get the card back to Amazon, so, give or take, I have about 3-4'ish days left. What should I do?

  1. Try another game? Minecraft is mostly CPU intensive, and if its a CTD (Crash to desktop, with no warning whatsover), it might be the game running out of memory to use.

I honestly would try another game, especially one that is more GPU intensive.

  2. might be the 4gb memory. It often breaks games.

    It does? How so?

Where did you get that from? xD (the error message)

680s don't normally have 4gbs of memory. Sometimes the drivers are just broken for the 4gb versions.

    :( So...what do I do?
  7. Might be some other issue with the game. I guess try asking EVGA again.

:\ What are the chances that changing out the GPU will fix the problem?
  9. If the GPU itself or the memory is faulty it could fix it. Is the error message I posted earlier close to what you are getting (Some lines will be different because its a different version of the game)
  10. Where did you get those error logs from?
  11. Found it online from some research about your issue :)
