PCI-E 3.0?

Sorry if i sound dumb i did research but i have been confused. With the LGA2011 Sandy Bridge-E sockets, do they support PCI-E 3.0 cards? i.e. gtx 680? or does it push it down to a PCI-E 2.0? and if it doesn't do that either, then is the PCI-E 3.0 lane only dependent on the motherboard itself? just needed clarification for myself. Thanks for answering!

PCI-E slot is related to motherboard only. So don't worry about you Processor.

But your Mobo should have a PCI-E 3 Slot for that GTX 680.
