Over kill for any of the games you mentioned, but the card will last you longer on the games to come in 2 or 3 years by now, so yeah its worth it. :D , also since yours its still working nice on what you play, maybe you can wait some months for the next cards generation.

The GTX 670 isn't overkill at all, actually you should be able to max out bf3 with it on 1080p (with aa on max) and you should hold around 60 fps average. Not to mention if you overclock it a bit. Honestly that is my favorite gtx 670 card, so i can strongly recommend it. If you're into overclocking, it does it like a champ.

Oh, the only way it would be over kill was if you had like a 1680x1050 monitor or something like that. But even if you did i would still recommend this card to you, it works wonders :)

An HD 7970 will do the job while offering GTX 680 performance for the same price as an GTX 670. The 3GB VRAM will also come in handy in the future. If you just have a preference towards NVIDIA, alright, no problem. DO consider the HD 7970 though if not.

^ I agree. The HD 7970 is a better choice for the money. The GTX 670 has been on sale as low as ~$315 though and if you can get one for that price then it becomes the better deal. The HD 7970 is a faster card though and when overclocked generally beats out the GTX 680.

Idk I don't really know, I don't have much experience with Graphics cards, my friend who builds computers says that Gtx is more reliable... but idk

^ No to both. The HD 7970 if anything runs at the same temps as the GTX 6xx series.

AMD just got the current generation of cards out months before the GTX 6xx series. When the GTX 680 and 670 were released and performed better than what AMD had out AMD revamped their lineup. They have the price/performance crown right now. It really goes back and forth over the years depending on who has the better architecture at the time. People still buy Nvida though of course because the cards are still great. Also AMD and Nvidia have people who just are fans of the brand the same way people are of Intel and AMD.

Overall the GTX 6xx series are very poor overclockers compared to the AMD cards as well. The vanilla HD 7970 will easily overclock to HD 7970 Ghz Edition levels. The honest answer is either card is great but the HD 7970 gives you a bit more bang for your buck.

This conclusion to the same article I posted above is worth reading.
