Hi folks,

Sorry if this question appeared before but how do you calculate the speed of RDRAMs? Like PC 600 vs PC 800. Are they operating on different clock frequencies? Where do the 600 and 800 are coming?

And one last question, why do we have to plug them in pairs?

RDRAM has to be plugged in pairs to make up two channels and 3.2 GB/S bandwidth, the same as the P4's external bus.
Plugging a single module in would not work, and even if it did, it would reduce to 1.6 GB/S bandwidth, killing the P4's performance.

On the i850, they must be in pairs. On single-channel RDRAM boards (rare), they can be run as single RIMMs.
