Is this a good enough Power supply?

hey I have built a gaming pc and the gpu I took :

Nvidia GTX 680 msi lightning :

and for the power supply I took :

Rosewill HIVE Series HIVE-550 550W
http://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-Series-BRONZE-Certified-Hive-550/dp/B005ILWY9G/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

is it good enough ? and will it handle overclocking ?

the rest of the build :

western digital caviar black 1Tb 7200 RPM

CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB)

ASRock Z77 Extreme4

Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO

SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD128BW 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive

thanks in advance :)

More about good power supply
  1. Having more wattage than you need doesn't hurt but having the bare minimum or not enough will. 550W may be fine for a single but Rosewill isn't among the best power supply makers out there. This would be better: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151096

Or this if you want to SLI: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703027
  2. 550W is technically enough for a 680 and mainstream CPU, but you would be cutting it fairly fine.
  3. 550 should be enough, 600 would be better (obviously). The PSU brand isn't that good for this price range. Look at this, usaully things made from seasonic is best.

  4. and can i get a cheaper ssd with the same performance ?
  5. why don't you buy a nice 750watt name brand quality power supply that will supply enough clean power to the whole system instead of a bottom feeder power supply that truly can't provide what your system needs.

you need not look at minimum or recommended requirements but look beyond that when buying a power supply. this is the one place you don't want to be cheap.

I'd rather get a 670 and a better PS than a 680 and that lump of junk.
  6. Sorry didn't see your last post, go the corsair, made by corsair
  7. Seasonic*
  8. and can i get a cheaper ssd with the same performance ?
  9. You wont get the same performance, as the 840 Pro is about the best SSD on the market right now.
Other good options are the OCZ Vector and Vertex4, Samsung 830 is you can find one.
  10. i want a new psu also i have tr2 500watt looking at the tr2 700watt but the 500 watt have never had probloem just have that itch to get more watts
  11. thermaltake
  12. how is this one ?

note that I'm planning on overclocking my cpu and gpu :)

and a stupid Question XD the electric power in my house is 220v is that compatible with the PSU ? ;p
  13. What is your budget for the PSU?

Yes, any decent PSU with Active PFC will be fine with whatever voltage comes out of your walls.

    my budget is 50-60 $
  15. Then that CX600 is about the best you can get, unless you can stretch the budget and get that TX650.

    sadly I can't increase the budget :(

so the cx 600 will do just fine ? will it be sufficient ?
  17. Yep, it will do fine.
  18. thanks man :)
