Why does my external not want to show in my computer

Hello,
i bought a new external and it installs on my laptop and is in device manager but does not want to show in my computer... please help

I assume when you say the "external" doesn't show on your computer that you mean a desktop computer as opposed to your laptop computer. I'm also assuming that you are plugging into USB ports in both cases. Have you tried plugging something else into the same USB port or tried plugging your "external" into a different USB port on your desktop? Maybe a bad port or a bad cable?

It probably doesn't have a drive letter selected or partitioned correctly under device/disk manager. Please check to make sure both of these are done.
