Is 550W enough for a Radeon 7870?

550W with Radeon 7870 with i5 3470 3.2Ghz
no overclocking on either cpu or gpu.
prob wont crossfire either anytime soon

but you havent mentioned what brand of psu you have !! 550 watts of a quality brand psu such as xfx or corsair is more than enough for a single 7870.
but if you dont have a quality psu i would suggest first upgrade your psu to something like corsair cx 500 or xfx 550 watt before trying to install the 7870

With that brand you are just fine. As long as the GPU is connected right you won't have a problem with it.
