First Build!!! Any advice or opinions?

Hello everyone. New member here and building my first computer. I've never had the right hardware or means to build one before. Just looking for some advice. I recently went to an auction where I scored a bunch of nice computer hardware. I would like to build the best PC I can out of this and looking for your opinions. Some of the hardware is a year or two old. Also, I will need to purchase a few things like memory, processor, video card, etc. I do some gaming, but nothing hardcore.

Here is the hardware I scored off this auction.

More about first build advice opinions
  1. Go with the AM3+ because the LGA1156 has been dead for a few years. Get a FX 8350 and you should be good. Those PSU's look like crap.
  2. I take that back the PC Power and Cooling 1000w seems to be high quality.

    http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/psu_manufacturers

"The 1kW Turbo Cool is considered one of the highest quality PSUs available; despite being one of the loudest, it is a high-quality server-grade PSU. The Silencer series is good, although their are better Seasonic built units available, that are also quieter and better value."
  3. Cases : get the Thermaltake Level 10 if it's cheaper than the silverstone one.

Cooler : Scythe SCMG-3000, it's the best, the artic freezer pro 13 only if it's cheaper.

PSU : NZXT HALE90-850-M 850W if it's th cheapest, those are all overkill and old.

MOBO : the am3+ for obvious reasons, but the brand sucks(ECS), keep in mind it's only valid if you have or you'll buy an FX amd cpu.

Now for my opinion, if those cost a lot, you can get cheaper new parts, it's not recommended going with old parts.
You can get good psus for 50-60$.
    Cases for 45-60$.
    LGA 1155 h77 for 70$, z77 for 90-140$, am3 + for 70-140$.
  4. Thank you both so much for your thoughts. I've already bought all the items I listed for about $200. Some are new and some are slightly used. Not sure how I feel using the used stuff. Just wondered what the best build would be.
