Hi, I have a HP Z800 with a 1110W power supply which has 2 free 6-pin pci-e power cables.

I just took delivery of a HD7950 (not overclocked) and it requires a 6 pin and a 8 pin pci-e connection. It says in the installation guide that I shouldnt use an adaptor to go from 2x 6-pin to 8-pin (not that I have enough connectors for that anyway), but I'm wondering if I will get away with using a straight 6 to 8 pin adaptor?

I really don't want to change psu as this one is very custom made to fit in the case and I don't like my chances of getting an affordable replacement. What would you suggest?

I can't see any problems, the extra lines are only grounds anyway (black, on the 'clip' side of the plug), it's more importaint to have all three yellow +12v lines connected.
