Screen failing after sleep

After my computer goes into sleep mode from inactivity when I move the mouse or press a key to wake it up the monitor will flash the desktop and then go black but the power button on the monitor stays green.

So far I have gotten it to turn back on by restarting the computer and by turning the monitor on and off repeatedly.

I'm trying to diagnose the problem if it the video card, monitor or something else and was wondering if anyone has any experience with a problem like this and what it was.

Same problem I think. Samsung netbook with Windows7 - every time click on cursor screen blanks. Added a mouse on USB port and problem stops by using alternative mouse. Only seen since Jan 2013 so wonder if its a software patch
