Hi all
Just about to build an HTPC which will be used on a 42" non- HD TV. I've had a bit of trouble choosing a graphics card and so far I have come up with the AMD Radeon 6670 1GB GDDR5. If I do upgrade to a full HD TV would this be able to handle it, or could it even be over kill ?

Here are the full system specs in case you need them:

Asus M5A97L-M
AMD Athlon II x4 640
Silverstone GD04B Case
WD Caviar blue 500GB HDD
Sony AD-7280s-0b 24X DVD
CiT 450W Gold PSU
Windows 7 OEM
(X2) Kingston 1333Mhz 4GB DDR3
AMD Asus Radeon 6670 1GB GDDR5

Thanks in advance.

Even an ASUS 8400GS-SL-512MD3 will support a full HD TV, as long as you don't want to play or need 3D.

For strictly media playing (nothing more intensive than blu-ray playback), the HD6670 would be considered overkill on a full HD capable monitor/HDTV. If you're wanting to game on this system, then the HD6670 is probably a little on the low side. I'd probably look at the HD7850 instead.

Thanks for the info so would a radeon 6570 2GB DDR3 work fine for 1080p playback?

Absolutely. Note that I'm currently using an HD4670 in my HTPC and it works perfectly (still overkill) for blu-ray playback.
