Has anyone read any reviews on this LCD?? I've seen it at Best Buy and it looks great!! I was wondering how it would hold up to gaming!!

Thanks,

Eric

I am also curios about any information anyone has regarding the 1765. I saw it at Best Buy as well and was very impressed by the picture.

I sent the following to NEC/Mitsubishi concerning the 1765:

I'm considering buying a 17 inch LCD monitor. Near the top of my list was the 1760V. Now I see that NEC offers a new 17 inch LCD monitor, the 1765. Comparing the detailed specs on your website for these two monitors yields little in terms of difference: The 1765 is bigger and slightly heavier, and the viewing angle from left to right is increased. One curious difference is that the 1760's recommended resolution is not the native resolution, but the 1765's recommended resolution is. The 1760 has a contrast ration of 450:1, but the 1765's is only 400:1. The 1765 is also not as bright (225 cd/m2 white luminance - typical vs. 260 cd/m2 white luminance - typical).

This makes me wonder why the 1765 was released. It has some slight advantage with the increased left to right viewing angle, but the contrast and brightness are not as good. The 16ms response time is still listed as typical, even though that appears to be a best (see http://www6.tomshardware.com/displ [...] ndex.html), so I am somewhat hesitant to buy an NEC monitor. Can you explain why the 1765 was released since the 1760 is so similar?

The response:

Dear Sir,

The LCD1765 has one feature that makes it different than the others... It was introduced as a "Low Cost" monitor for the Net gamer as it has a non removable folding stand and a slightly more protected case. To lessen the cost they used a lcd that has slightly decreased specs.

Has anyone used this LCD with a game yet?? It looks great in the store and I do like the protective cover for little or big fingers or if your taking it on the road.

Thanks,

Eric
