Hi, im gonna get a evga gtx 670 ftw, and was wondering if a 550w psu will be good enough for the gpu and a overclocked i5 3570k
And if anyone has a ftw, can you please post ur experiances with it?

That should be plenty, A 670 can only use a max of 170w and your CPU shouldn't use more than 150w with a heavy overlock. so that is ~320w then add another 30w-50w for all other stuff ( HDD, DVD rom, and fans) meaning you will use around 370w with everything at 100% load.

Edit: you can run 670's in sli off a 650w psu.

Alright, thanks for the help :)
Do you have any experiance with the card?

If you're going to SLI it, I'd go with a 750w, just to be safe.

And it depends which version of the FTW you're getting - I have the original one, which as far as I can tell, was the best of the bunch. I personally absolutely love it - I have it overclocked to roughly 1200MHz core, and it screams through almost any game at 120fps. There are a few games in which I have to turn down the details on, but when I do, it's mostly turning down shadows and AA styles - not a significant loss of visuals on a 1080p screen.

There are actually six different EVGA 670's among them only two are worth buying imo the other four are nothing special nor do they have anything over reference 670 that cost less. Asus 670 TOP the best 670 - 10.0 rating (only card ever to get a 10.0)

EVGA SC Boost Clock is 1046 outta the box....stable at 1200 Mhz
EVGA SC gets 3DMark Score of 8691 outta the box and 9443 OC'd
Idle temp is 29C / load temp is 78C
Noise is 37 dBA Idle / 43 dBA under load

http://www.guru3d.com/article/asus-geforce-gtx-670-directcu-ii-top-review/23
Asus TOP Boost Clock is 1137 outta the box .... stable at 1280 Mhz
Asus gets 3DMark Score of 9340 outta the box and 9839 OC'd
Idle temp is 30C / load temp is 72C
Noise is 37 dBA Idle / 38 dBA under load

That makes the Asus 7% faster outta the box than the EVGA SC, 6C cooler and almost 1/4 as loud under load (every 3 dBA is a doubling of sound level). The FTW is slightly faster than the SC, leaving the Asus model w/ just a 5% performance advantage those are the only two evga 670 worth buying imo period. These are the two do not buy any other EVGA 670 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130787

Thanks for the help. But sadly the top is sorta out of my budget. I also heard that both the top and the sc have a had problems with both having recalls.

No problem.Your welcome!Well imo he said she said don't cut it for me.You should not believe anything you hear only facts backed with solid proof.Blanket statements newegg reviews don't show any proof to make me believe or trust in.As for my recommendation i was actually recommending all three.

Wouldn't the ftw be faster than the sc since it has higher clock speeds? Also could I buy the non top 670 and oc it to around base 680 clocks?

About how much do you think a good oc is? I was hoping the get the non top and oc it to bout 1 GHz. If I don't like it, can I just return it for a refund?
Now im stuck with the
ftw, pe, and this. Do you think that the top version is worth the extra money? And if so, about how much increase in performance can I expect than the ftw?

Those are questions nobody can honestly answer i know a lot of members claim certain things and say it's a for sure thing but their liars there is no "Guaranteed" overclock except a factory one other then that it's just luck of the draw Silicone lottery.Yeah usually you have up to a month to send it back

Alright, so one more thing, how much do you think a good oc is? About how much would YOU be hoping to oc it?

Well i have sli now and 120hz monitor so it would not apply to a typical setup i believe i saved some notes i will look for them and get back to you. EDIT- Found when i had just one 670 i ran BF3 on Graphics preset: Ultra (using all defaults included in that preset) my fps drops to about 40~50 from time to time. Average 60~70 Core: 1325Mhz / Mem: 3557MHz (stable in heaven)
If I increase the core offset, I can reach about 1350MHz on core in 3dmark 11 but heaven crashes some times. (I didn't do it for those tests)

In AB:
Core Voltage: +0mV
Power Limit: 114% (Max)
Core Clock: +97Mhz (I'll tweak that higher later if I can)
Memory Clock: +550Mhz

All my tests passed under 62°c (~59 average)

Is that while recording? Becuse from all the tests iv seen, the ftw gets about 70-80 maxed out w/o recording.

Yeah i know so was i but that is the way the cookie crumbles. According to reviews you would think
ASUS GTX 670 TOP = Silent.
MSI GTX 670 PE = Better Overclocking.

Just goes to show you cannot always trust reviews my friend has the Top it overclocks better then my cards lol.
