Connection/Lag with BF2

Hey there,

I have just tried to play BF2 online for the first time, but without much
success.
First of all, which server I choose doesn't matter, as I get warnings like
"There are problems with your connection" every 5 seconds, resulting in lag
and eventually a disconnect.
Second, even if I manage to play somehow, there are graphics errors all
around (playing with a 9800Pro, newest driver), and those errors are not
apparent when playing offline...

At first I thought it might have been my DSL connection which was just
hooked up today, but everything else works fine and the log shows no
connection problems... Bandwidth shouldn't be a problem either (6M/512k).

Any ideas?

TIA

Check and see what you have running in the background. This can be
affecting your internet connection and/or graphics. Get "End it All" to
turn off programs you don't need when playing BF2.

How much RAM do you have? If it's less than 1 gig, increase it. The more
RAM, the happier your game.

Check your graphics card settings. For example, you probably should have
v-sync off.

"End It All"? Sounds interesting. Do you have a web site for it?

Cause doing a google search for End It All Get's back a TON of
non-related matches! and I could not find it on hotfiles.com or
majorgeeks.com

Apparently the owner of the End It All program has withdrawn it from the
freeware sites. I would check ZD Net's download utility section to see if
another similar program is around.

I checked what is running - nothing but the WLAN software, AV and firewall
(apart from the "usual" system processes). Processor and RAM usage is at
~70-80% when playing. BTW, EndItAll (Google is my friend...) found exactly
1 process I missed somehow, so maybe...

1 gig DDR-400 - should be okay...

done, was off... I just downgraded graphics settings ingame and although it
is worse to look at I can play for about 20 minutes before black triangles
start appearing, cluttering the screen and therefore making the game
unplayable.

maybe my old friend the thermal problem is back, will see tomorrow...

thanks for the help!

When i played the game , i had the some lag with 1 Gb RAm and i increased
it to 1,5 Gb with succes.
I had problems with newest catdrivers 5.7 and reinstalled the 5.6 with the
Sapphire 9800 PRO.
Later i flashed the bios from the pro to the XT.
The game is playing great with almost no lag.
